The second Stage of the Tour de Tall was more zig-zagging across Berlin to visit the twelfth to the eighth tallest structures. More impressive stacks from power plants and an Eiffel Tower imitation .. I mean .. inspiration, plus a bonus spaceship.
Spring made a welcome return just in time for the final BRC Endspurt Meisterschaft route. A lovely sunny day cycling through nature reserves, forests and along waterways. Bonus visit to the Schloss Dammsmühle with an interesting CV and yet another foiled sabotage attempt!
This is the second in a two part series of my Tour to all six of the Siedlungen der Berliner Moderne (Berlin Modernism Housing Estates). This post looks at the Wohnstadt Carl Legien, Gartenstadt Falkenberg and the Hufeisensiedlung Britz. These three estates feature some amazingly colourful designs which really popped when I visited.
This is the first in a two part series of my Tour to all six of the Siedlungen der Berliner Moderne (Berlin Modernism Housing Estates). This post looks at the Großsiedlung Siemensstadt, Siedlung Schillerpark and Weiße Stadt. Enjoy these estates full of sleek lines, flat roofs and colour accents in some glorious sunshine.
This recap of the Grand Tour de Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel looks at the history of the public transport network in Berlin. And takes a deep dive into the highs and lows (pun intended) of blood glucose management during the 59 stages.
I finally completed all of the S-Bahn routes during Stage 53 of the Grand Tour de Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel. This was the S3 running from West to East and I took in some brutalist architecture and cycled through the long stretches of forest. There was also a refreshing summer rainfall too on the way back to central Berlin.
Stage 47 of the Grand Tour de Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel was a major win in blood glucose management – within range the whole Stage! Plus sightings of Highland Cattle, great gravel paths in Falkenberg and the Mörderberg (Murder Mountain!).
Nadja joined me during Stage 45 of the Grand Tour de Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel! After putting her mechanic skills to the test, we headed up to Frohnau to catch up with a friend before parting ways. I discovered a horrible example of border control but also some lovely areas in Niederschönhausen and Pankow.
Stage 41 of the Grand Tour de Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel completed the S25 route between the towns of Teltow and Hennigsdorf. Along the way, I passed through forests, checked out new graffiti and passed two border towers.
Stage 39 of the Grand Tour de Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel took on some of the bus routes in the north west of Berlin. It was also the first time in the district of Frohnau!
