I visited the three tallest structures in Berlin during the final Stage of the Tour de Tall. All three were built to transmit radio/TV signals and built when Berlin was divided, which played a role in their final states. I mainly cycled through the lush forests of Berlin before the final stop in central Berlin where loads of people were enjoying the sun.
The penultimate Stage of the Tour de Tall took me to the extreme north and south of Berlin on the hunt for the 7th to the 4th tallest structures of Berlin. The structures were all related to power generation – mainly stacks from natural gas power plants but also impressive wind turbines. This was a fantastic cycle in Berlin with ideal conditions.
The second Stage of the Tour de Tall was more zig-zagging across Berlin to visit the twelfth to the eighth tallest structures. More impressive stacks from power plants and an Eiffel Tower imitation .. I mean .. inspiration, plus a bonus spaceship.
The Tour de Tall consists of four separate Stages visiting the 17 highest structures in Berlin in ascending order. This first Stage zig-zagged through central Berlin to reach the five “shortest” structures – all stacks from different power plants. This was a lovely ride in the sun and I could even visit Nadja and the cats for lunch.

This post looks at the Wohnstadt Carl Legien, Gartenstadt Falkenberg and the Hufeisensiedlung Britz. These three estates feature some amazingly colourful designs which really popped when I visited.

Cycling the Berliner Mauerweg (Berlin Wall Path) has been on my To Do List for ages! I finally managed to complete the whole path in a single day and it was well worth it. Starting (and ending) in central Berlin, passing along waterways and along fields – the varied terrain and sights were fantastic. But also a reminder of how West Berlin was surrounded by a huge concrete wall and that many East Berliners risked their lives to cross that border.
Stage 50 of the Grand Tour de Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel was a very eventful Stage! Nick had to abandon another Stage due to a flat tyre and I forgot to inject bolus insulin leading to very high blood glucose.
Stage 49 of the Grand Tour de Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel tackled the penultimate S-Bahn route between Oranienburg and Wannsee. This allowed me the visit many lakes in the north and south of Berlin plus Kaffeeklatsch (gossip over coffee) with friends too.
Nadja joined me during Stage 45 of the Grand Tour de Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel! After putting her mechanic skills to the test, we headed up to Frohnau to catch up with a friend before parting ways. I discovered a horrible example of border control but also some lovely areas in Niederschönhausen and Pankow.
